merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stone, and pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet; and all citron wood, and every vessel of ivory, and every vessel made of most costly wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble;

merchandise (Things which are sold) of  gold, (Godly thinking)  and silver, (Redemption)  and precious stone, (Spiritual building blocks) and pearls, (Symbol of God’s truths, God’s people, formed through suffering, A pearl starts with a foreign substance as an irritant) (Note: Revelation 17:4;)

I Corinthians 3:12;

But if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, (Spiritual building blocks) wood, hay, stubble; (Earthly building blocks)

Exodus 25:3;

And this is the (Spiritual) offering, which you shall take of them: gold, and silver, and brass, :4; and blue, (Symbol of heaven and authority) and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen,

and fine linen, (Symbol of The righteous acts of the saints) (Note: Revelation 6:11; 15:4; 19:8)

Revelation 19:8;

And it was given unto her that she should array herself infine linen,

 bright and pure: for the  fine linen is the righteous acts  of the saints.

and purple, (Symbol of royalty, wealth and prosperity)

and silk, and scarlet; (Symbol of sin, suffering or sacrifice. The Blood of Jesus) 

and all citron wood, and every vessel of ivory, and every vessel made of most costly wood, and of brass, (Able to endure judgment)  

and iron, (For the cutting of the head, where we think) (Note: Revelation 2:27; 6:8,15; 9:9; 12:5; 19:15.)

and marble; (A stone that is extremely hard and capable of a high polish. In Hebrew and Greek it is translated to mean brightness and glistening. Spiritual Men are called, pillars, made of Marble, which hold up the Temple of God. (Note: Revelation 1:15)

These are all SPIRITUAL THINGS

Which the Merchants Are Selling

Revelation 18:13

and cinnamon, and spice, and incense, and ointment, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and cattle, and sheep; and [merchandise] of horses and chariots and slaves; and souls of men.

and cinnamon, and spice, and incense, and ointment, and frankincense, (These spices are used in the preparation for burial)

and wine, (Symbol of training, instruction and teaching, for growth, true or false.)

Isaiah 5:2

He dug it all around and removed it’s stones, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also hewed out a wine vat therein: and He expected it to produce good grapes, But it only produced worthless ones.

and oil, (Symbol of the Holy Spirit in anointing)

and fine flour, (Symbol of the broken body of Jesus. “To grind.”)

and wheat, (Symbol of the staff of life) (Together Makes Spiritual Bread) (Note: Revelation 6:6; 18:22.)

Psalms 104:15;

And wine that makes glad the heart of man, [And] oil to make his face to shine, And bread that strengthens man’s heart.

Exodus 25:6;

oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense,

and cattle, and sheep; (Beast)

and [merchandise] of horses (The Flesh; A Beast which has power)

and chariots (Vessels) (Note Revelation 9:7;9:9.)

Jeremiah 50:37;

A sword against their horses, (The Flesh; A Beast which has power) and against their chariots, (Vessels) and against all the mingled (Foreigners, those that do not know the Lord, intimately; they are foreign to Him, because, the have not returned to God by Practicing Righteousness)

people that are in the midst of her; (The Harlot Babylon, The False Church, with her False Prophets)

and they shall become as women: a sword against her treasures, and they shall be plundered.

and slaves; (Servants which are not Bond-servants of God)

and souls (Mind, will and emotions.) of men

Micah 3:11;

Her (The Harlot Babylon, The False Church, with her False Prophets) leaders exchange justice for bribes. Her priests instruct for a price. Her prophets divine for money. But they rely on the LORD when they say, After all, the LORD is with us. Nothing bad will happen to us.(NOTE: Revelation 11:10.)

It is the realization that the Merchants of the Earth are buying and selling spiritual things which leads us to see just who the Harlot Babylon is. “Come and buy a tape, book, or a study prophecy bible.  She is always ready and willing to help you out spiritually so long as she can make some money too! She is the Earthly Jerusalem, the church built with hands, the false church with her false prophets. She always tries to please God by her own efforts.  She feeds her children (NOTE: Revelation 2:23; 11:8; 11:13; 17:5;) food defiled with HER THINKING, defiled by HER FLESH,

II Timothy 3:5;

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.

God always has wanted us to realize that our power and our efforts mean nothing without His power, which is Grace, behind them to make them eternal.  Otherwise they are only temporary, earthly things which will not last. Our efforts are corrupted and therefore dying. God wants us to be able to rely on His power for eternity. That is one of the major themes of the Bible, how to rely on God and not ourselves. Remember, the battle is His, not ours.
