ANGST

Angst,

it’s the spirit

that seems to rule your soul

when you look out on a world

spinning fast out of control

Angst,

a name you call

the spirit that rules the air,

the spirit that keeps you crawling

in dread of deep despair

Angst,

can’t you feel it,

can’t you hear him in your soul?

It’s the murmuring of terror

that just won’t let you go

Angst,

it’s a devil

that will never set you free;

it’s the dogma of men’s hatred

setting you ‘gainst me

Angst,

it’s the fear

against which faith must fight,

the enemy of the day

and brother of the night

Angst

defines this moment

in man’s place in time

with fear in every newscast,

sadism in each crime

Angst,

the new religion

that rules the sons of men;

crucify it now,

this devious dominion

For the demons

which were few and far

have been unleashed

en mass

against us.
