HEAVEN’S GLOW

Dew upon the ground

I found

early one late summer’s day

Brown returning green

it seemed

as if the grass had died away

But rains came after drought

and thought

that fruit would surely cease

The air again grew cool

the cool

that beckons autumn’s lease

And birds sing happily

with glee

the cardinal sings

She sits inside my cedar

I see her

with her red among my greens

But my pond is sitting low

I know

the latter rains must flow

to fill the cisterns of the earth

with mirth

and heaven’s glow!
