JIHAD

Always learning, but never perceiving
God’s intent with man;
Always believing, and never doubting
doctrines from man’s hand
“Do not taste; do not touch”
We hear it from our youth;
“The teaching is already established;
don’t meddle with our truth”
But, “What is truth?” a king once asked
of Him who knew the key
“I see a myriad of cults,
but none speaks truth to me”
“Love your neighbor as yourself,
and God with all your heart;
If you will only do this thing
Then you have done your part”
My flesh is weak; my lusts are strong
Even this I can’t obey
What Jesus made to sound so simple
reveals my heart astray
Now, two thousand years from then,
an age has passed away
We find ourselves no nearer truth
than the first who walked this way
Two thousand years of greed and lust
two millennia of shame
A church that tortured “heretics”
that wouldn’t play her game
Western nations they call “Christian,”
but use that name in vain,
create abominations
for money and for fame
So now a specter rises East
who shouts in Allah’s name,
“You Christian infidels
will die in blood and shame;
“You’ve cursed your God in riotous living;
you’ve stolen what’s not yours;
you’ve idolized your nations
and turned your daughters into whores;
“You suffer every illness known
and more invented by your greed;
you pollute your very ground
with genetically altered seed;
“Your stench rises to the end of earth;
our nostrils burn enflamed
from acrid sulfur powder
dropped on us from your planes;
“Your time is drawing closer;
your end is now at hand;
the battle lines are drawn
in sand upon your land.”
“Wait!” the Christian prophet shouts,
“You have unclean hands yourself;
by what right do you stand judging
these men that preach God’s Hell?”
The Muslim laughs; his face is scorn;
he fears neither death nor hell;
he raises high his spectral voice
and begins anew to tell,
“Have you never read your prophets
who pronounce the Day of Wrath?
Have you never understood
the present and the past?
“You condemn the innocent to hell
while you yourselves walk free
to indulge in every lust of man
which in your minds you see
“You always fail to forgive,
though Jesus stressed mercy,
saying, “Forgive your foe,
or I forgive not thee!”
The prophet cries again, in shame,
“Muslim brother, now I see;
God has raised you up
to judge hypocrisy.
“It’s not that you or I are right
in all our works or play;
God consigned this world to sin
that all would disobey
“so that we as one grown man would bow
to Jesus Christ and say,
`In Adam we all, yes ALL, have died,
but in Christ will rise one day.”
