PILGRIM

I’ve called you as a pilgrim

to a world that's going mad;

I’ve tried you in the fires of life

to purge the dross you had

It was I who made the road so rough

who took the wind out of your sails,

and it was I who quieted stormy seas

when you couldn’t stand the gales

I’ve given only glimpses

of my glory and my fame;

I even withdrew my presence,

but you didn’t deny my name

I left you, yes, to try you

to see all inside your heart;

I emptied you of vanity

before your life’s real start

The time IS drawing closer;

Indeed it is at hand;

I turned the heat upon you

to enable you to stand

And now, having done all,

stand

and behold

the glory of your God!
