SHIFTING SAND

Shifting sand, oh I built my house on shifting sand

I was in sight of land, but I built my house on shifting sand

Every prophet I heard took me firmly by the hand

to shifting sand

There’s a prophet of earth and a prophet of trees

a prophet of science who thinks he really sees

There’s a prophet of women and prophets of race

apostles all of a worldly grace

Shifting sand, oh I built my house on shifting sand

I was in sight of land, but I built my house on shifting sand

Every prophet I heard took me firmly by the hand

to shifting sand

There’s a prophet of peace and a prophet of war

a seller of sex, prophet of the whore

there’s a prophet of greed and a seer of faith

apostles all of a worldly grace

Shifting sand is anything you’ve heard

which contradicts God’s Holy Word

shifting sands are all those things

you covet which idolatry brings

There’s only one rock, and only one truth

one Spirit only, who dwells inside of you

There’s just one door, one shepherd of the sheep

His name is Jesus, and your soul He’ll keep

from shifting sand

Shifting sand, oh I built my house on shifting sand

I was in sight of land, but I built my house on shifting sand

Every prophet I heard took me firmly by the hand

to shifting sand
