TRUTH EXISTS

A man sees what he sees;

he cannot see what he can’t see

because to him it does not exist.

A man hears what he hears;

he cannot hear what he can’t hear

because to him it does not exist.

If his eyes are open and he thinks he sees,

if I tell him what he ought to see,

will he not call me a fool in his heart?

If his ears are open and he thinks he hears,

if I tell him what he ought to hear,

will he not secretly ridicule me?

And so it is with every sense of the body

and every perception of the soul;

Only to him in whom there is no guile

            may the truth be taught.

The rest must wait until scourges

            purify their soul.
