THE GOSPEL

I throw off every doubt and fear

that has grown in me too long,

doubts of faith and strength, love and provision,

fears of death and demonic powers

And in their place I put on

faith and hope and love,

righteousness, justice, and mercy

and truth which binds all as one

In my hand I wield the sword

of God’s Spirit,

which is His true Word,

the discerner of truth and error

On my head I wear the helmet

of Christ’s salvation,

the protector of my mind,

the savior of my soul

And on my feet I wear the shoes

that Jesus shod Himself,

the gospel that proclaims all men

die in sin and unbelief;

yet just as boldly still does say

in Him shall all be made alive.
