Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. They said therefore among themselves, Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which said, They parted my garments among them, and for my clothing they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did. (John 19:23-24)

“That the scripture might be fulfilled” describes the Word of God, God’s wonderful gift to man. Our common Bible contains many words of God, but Jesus Himself is the Word of God. And, since Jesus inspired men to write that which ultimately became our Bible we often call it “the Word of God.” In fact the scriptures themselves declare their divine authenticity in many places. Peter says, for example,

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; to which you do well that you take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of one’s own interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:19-21)

Many people do not believe that God spoke through men and that those men then wrote the words we find in our modern Bible. Today many deceivers have gone abroad trying to convince people that evil men of the early church age or the dark ages changed the scriptures, editing out what they did not want people to know or believe, and deliberately leaving out books of the Bible they feared or found troublesome. Now we even see small, cultish movements attacking Paul and his writings as being of the devil.

I testify today that I have diligently studied the Scriptures for almost forty years, both old and new testaments, and the writings of Paul, Peter, John, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and every other prophet of God. I have found the entire Bible to be “a seamless garment,” just as was Jesus’ tunic. All things in God’s holy word relate, interrelate, correlate, and prove each other. For this reason God warns us even today,

“I testify unto every man that hears the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” (Revelation 22:18-19)

Because the Word of God itself is a seamless garment, a seamless work, a seamless revelation, I can go to virtually any verse in any book of the Bible and begin to teach the plan of God for mankind, the plan which states that the entire history of mankind gives witness to the creation of man by God in His own image. We see this plan in the very first verse of the Bible, Genesis 1:1 wherein God declares, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” The rest of the Bible explains this creation.

Men speak of salvation and they claim that “Jesus saves!” This is true, but it has not been understood. True salvation means “to be created in God’s image.” The Gospel, the “good news” of God, declares this salvation, this creation, but who has understood it? The entire Bible declares the good news, the Gospel, of God. The Bible itself is God’s seamless garment to men. Jesus wore a seamless garment at the time of his crucifixion for a reason and that reason was to show the world that God’s Word has no patches, no tears, no seams; it is all of one. Hear, o world, the LORD your God, the LORD is ONE!
