Scripture Supports the Flat Earth Model (Flat Earth 4)

Two of the first things any child learns when he begins school these days is 1+1=2 and the earth is shaped like a ball. Many elementary classrooms display a “globe” of the world in order to reinforce science’s view of the earth. All of us were, of course, also taught that the earth could not be flat because sailing ships and all the world’s water would fall over the edge if it were. I, therefore, never even considered the possibility that the earth could be flat… until recently. I watched a few videos six weeks ago that you can find on YouTube. I mentioned what I saw to my family and I was quickly shamed into not even entertaining such thoughts! So, I left it alone again… until last week. One day last week I watched a Christian video that impressed me, went to his YouTube page and saw that he believed in a flat earth. I asked him a question about how the sun could even work then and he referred me to Mark Sargent’s series of videos called “Flat Earth Clues.” Mark made some good points, but I wasn’t really convinced yet. Then YouTube’s algorithm suggested a few other videos. I then found and watched videos produced by My Perspective, jeranism, Rob Skiba, TheMorgile, Flat Water, Eric Dubay, and others.  I read part of a book published in 1881 by Samuel Birley Rowbotham called Zetetic Astronomy: Earth Not a Globe.

Then I watched a video called “Top 10 Reasons Why We Know the Earth is Round.” The flat earth videos I had previously watched easily debunked all ten of these “top” reasons. I could not think of any other reasons why I should assume, then, that the earth is a globe except that the powers that be have always told me that I live on a globe. So, I considered this question, “Can I trust the powers that be?” All you who read my blog already know that I believe that 911 was an inside job false flag event, that genetic engineering is destroying our food supply and planet, that geoengineering (chemtrails) is destroying our world, that the United States created and funds ISIS, that the United States leaders are purposely destroying our nation by allowing millions of illegal immigrants and dangerous terrorists to enter our country, and that transhumanism and artificial intelligence threaten to destroy mankind in the very near future. I then answered my question, “No, I cannot trust the powers that be.” Then I remembered the other thing they taught me in school, that 1+1=2. “Is that true?” I thought. “Of course. I can easily prove that one.” So I applied that truth to my new problem. Do I believe that the earth is flat, or is it a ball?

At this time I am aware of many physical facts that prove that the earth is flat. I am aware of none that prove that the earth is globe. If 1+1=2, then the earth is flat. Next I considered, if the earth is flat, then the Scriptures must affirm that fact. And instantly I thought of Psalm 19.

The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above[a] proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
    whose voice is not heard.
Their voice[b] goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat. (Psalm 19 ESV)

This psalm perfectly describes aspects of God’s creation which modern man has poo-poo’d as mere “poetic speech.” I always did. How could I take these words literally if the earth were a globe that rotated on its axis and, more than that, rotated around the sun too? I couldn’t.

But, do we believe that the Bible is true? Do we agree with Paul’s exhortation to Timothy, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God[b] may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) If we do believe this, do we then believe that God spoke truth concerning his creation, or did he use poetic language to tell us lies?

Verse one above says that the “heavens” and the “sky” both “declare the glory of God” and “proclaim his handiwork.” The English Standard Version translates the Hebrew word רָקִיעַ raqiya` raw-kee’-ah as “sky,” but the Brown, Driver, Briggs Hebrew-English Lexicon of the Old Testament says that this Hebrew word means, “extended surface, (solid) expanse, (as if beaten out; cf Job 37:18). Those authors also say this word can be translated as “the vault of heaven, or firmament,” and was “regarded by Hebrews as solid, and supporting `waters’ above it.” Job 37:18 asks, “Can you, like him, spread out the skies, hard as a cast metal mirror?” The Holy Spirit thus reveals at the beginning of Psalm 19 that this solid firmament (it is firm and thus a firmament) proclaims, shouts, announces God’s handiwork. He then says that the expanse “pours out speech” and “reveals knowledge.” Next, he compares the firmament to a voice and says that the speech and the words of all voices are heard throughout the earth.

But, Satan has all but silenced God’s voice concerning his creation. He perverted the truth of his voice just like he perverts and destroys everything he touches.

Now notice the revelation of God. Verses 5 and 6 describe the movement of the sun. God does not say that the earth moves. He says that the sun moves. “Oh,” you say, “David did not know that the earth revolved around the sun.” No, he didn’t. But, God knew that the earth did not revolve around the sun and God spoke through David to create Psalm 19. Did God just want to be poetic then? Of course not. Why would he deceive his creation about the world he made for them? Why would he tell us that the sun “runs its course” across the heavens if it does not? Why would he say that the sun “rises from the heavens” if it did not? Why would he deceive us and say that the sun moves in a “circuit to the end of the heavens” if it was really the earth that moved in various orbits?

When I first began to research the flat earth idea I mistakenly thought that the sun must go under the flat earth (based on my thinking of the ball earth), but I soon discovered that according to the flat earth model the sun in fact rises and sets over the earth in circuits just as described here in Psalm 19. Psalm 19 clearly and powerfully affirms the flat earth model! I look forward to finding even more Scriptures that do the same. If you find any, please share them with me. Now watch this for a few more relevant Scriptures.
