The Beast That “Was and Is Not” Now IS

Day of the Lord, Elohim, lawlessness, Mystery Babylon, Revelation

The beast that you saw was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. (Revelation 17:8 KJ2000)

The beast that “was and is not” when John saw his vision now IS.  To see this, though, we must understand what Scripture means by a “beast.”  Daniel tells us in chapter 7 of his book.  There God gives him a vision of four successive beasts which would rule the world.  We know this for certain because Daniel asks this specific question of an angel standing nearby during his vision and the angel tells him, “These four beasts are four kings who shall arise out of the earth.” These four beasts, or kings, correspond to the four kingdoms described by Daniel when he interpreted the great image in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. See Daniel 2.  Almost all Biblical scholars and prophecy writers interpret these four kingdoms as being Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece, and Rome. The question is, what are the other three kingdoms, or four when you consider the beast that was and is not.

First, though, understand this. When the Bible speaks of a beast rising from the sea, it speaks of a government, a kingdom, arising from among men. Throughout the Scripture God consistently uses the word “sea” to describe mankind.  ”The roaring of the sea,” for example, describes man’s railing against God.  Therefore when John sees a beast “rising out of the sea” in Revelation 13 he does not mean that a monstrous literal beast will someday come up out of one of earth’s oceans. He paints a picture of man’s final world government forming itself from the children of men.

The Bible speaks of seven, even eight, world kingdoms. I believe they are, in order of appearance, these: 1) Babel, 2) Egypt, 3) Assyria, 4) Babylon, 5) Media-Persia, 6) Greece, 7) Rome, and 8) ?.

Man’s first kingdom began when all mankind came together to build a tower of might in the land of Shinar, the land of the Chaldeans, shortly after the great Flood. Here they established their first world government. Here they said, “Come, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.” (Genesis 11:4 KJ2000) Here they sought to set their throne above the Most-High and here God set the pattern for all future world kingdoms.

For you have said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the farthest sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet you shall be brought down to sheol, to the sides of the pit. (Isaiah 14:13-15 KJ2000)

Men who refuse to submit to God will will instead work to raise themselves “above his throne.” This means that they become a law unto themselves and that they ultimately desire to sit as God in the throne of God. Such men are antichrist. Now that men publicly say they alone determine law, time, and reality, Paul’s prophecy is fulfilled and we know we have the reached the time of the Day of the LORD:

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come the falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 KJ2000)

Babel thus establishes this pattern with respect to the beast kingdoms which arise from the sea (mankind) throughout history. When we study the leaders of the succeeding kingdoms we always find that they wanted to be worshiped as “God.” This explains why God judged Nebuchadnezzar when he said, “Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?” (Daniel 4:30 ESV)

So, what is the eighth kingdom of men? The angel told John, “As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to its destruction.” (Rev. 17:11 ESV) Understand, then, that the beast with seven heads we see in Revelation 13:1 and 17:3 speaks of all the beast kingdoms of men, from the Tower of Babel to the last kingdom of men. The eighth kingdom is one of the seven, but which? We do not have to speculate. Too many Christian teachers (and I include myself) have speculated often and we have harmed the credibility of Christ by doing so. He told us over and over again not to add to or take away from his written word. This word tells us the identity of the eighth kingdom.

Behold the land of the Chaldeans. This is the people that was not. (Is 23:13, ESV)

The “land of the Chaldeans” is the land of Babylon, the land of ancient Babel. John calls this kingdom a mystery and names her “Babylon the Great” in Revelation 17:5. She is man’s final kingdom. When John wrote his book she “was.” She had indeed been a kingdom in the past, but she “is not” while he lived. Yet, she would be again in the future. And, yes, she would be “of” the kingdoms which preceeded her. Thus “Mystery Babylon,” or “Babylon the Great” is the eighth and final kingdom of man which seeks to raise his throne above God’s. It is no coincidence that Babylon (Babel) appears as the first, middle (4th), and final kingdom of men on earth. Finally, we see there exist only six kingdoms in man’s history, for six is the number of man and antichrist man, known by God as 666, can never and will never ascend to or beyond the throne of God.

Knowledge of the Truth: Evolution

Mystery Babylon, truth

Man’s doctrine of evolution stands out as his most blatant and successful, so far as his rebellion against God is concerned, suppression of the knowledge of the truth.  Men carry this suppression so far that they will not even allow the contrary opinion of creation to be taught in their public schools.  Scientists and academics who believe in creation and dare to teach it or refer to it in their work are routinely expelled from their jobs and blacklisted from getting new jobs.

Recently we saw worldwide newscasts that men had finally found the “missing link.”  A simple look at these old bones shows that they resemble a man in almost no way.  This long-dead beast simply shared similar aspects of man’s created body.  The only missing link this proved was the missing link in men’s thinking, namely God Himself.

I have been studying history for years.  Until recently you could find almost no historical work that claimed to explore any human civilization older than about 4,000 B.C., the Biblical date of Adam’s creation.  All books on human origins took you back to Ur of the Chaldees or the fertile crescent between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in Iraq.  This indeed was the location of Eden.  Here was where men began to move and multiply upon the earth.  Now, of course, we have “carbon dating” techniques which pretend to show much older civilizations.  But, do not be deceived.  Men work hard to suppress the truth.

And what is the result of mankind finally believing that he evolved by chance and time from cosmic gas and slime?  He acts like the beast he thinks he is.  For him there is no absolute truth, nothing really right or really wrong.  If he can think it, he does it, for no morality exists to guide his thoughts, actions, or inventions.  Hence we live in a world of progressing nightmare.  We cannot trust our governments or our scientists because we do not know what they might to do to us or others.  And so we tolerate or fear atomic, chemical, or biological warfare, scalar weaponry that can destroy massively from great distances away, chemtrails that routinely block our skies doing who knows what, poisons in our air, our water, our blood, controls on every aspect of our lives, road blocks in the heart of the country with police just waiting for any tiny infraction they can find, police-state goons sweeping in and taking law-abiding citizens co-op supplies at gunpoint, cities refusing to allow Christians to teach and pray in their own homes, sex change operations that further confuse people already confused, nanobots they want to put into our blood, ….

Yes, the doctrine of evolution has proved man’s greatest tool for convincing almost all other men to take the throne of their lives away from their Creator.  Through evolution’s godless and bestial doctrines mankind en mass literally became the beast that rises from the sea (of mankind) with seven (complete) heads and ten (number of law) horns (power).  Ten is the number of the Law and the beast’s ten horns demonstrate that he lives by the power of his own law, not God’s Law.   Mankind has rejected truth and become lawless.  The man of lawlessness has now been revealed and the consummation of the age is at hand.

Suppressing the Truth (The Man of Lawlessness)

Mystery Babylon, truth

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For in it is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God has showed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and deity; so that they are without excuse: Because, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is shameful, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was fitting. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not proper; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they who commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. (Romans 1:16-32 KJ2000)

This passage states that mankind deliberately suppresses God’s truth.  More than that, they actually turn God’s truth into a lie.  We see rampant examples of this everyday in the once Christian nations of the West.  Actions specifically condemned by Paul (and, indeed, all of Scripture) are now approved and even celebrated by modern Christians in these nations.  Just read the sermons on abortion and homosexuality by the “Reverend” Katherine Hancock Ragsdale, Dean of Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA to get a real sense of turning God’s truth into a lie.  Ragsdale in these sermons commits the blasphemy and unforgivable* sins of calling evil good.  If you have been reading F.B.’s commentary on Revelation you will understand that Ragsdale is a “carnal Christian,” one who has committed “sins unto death.”  See 1 John 5:16-17.

This active suppression of the truth and the turning of the truth into a lie reveals the times in which we live.  This is the “mystery of lawlessness” Paul alludes to in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2.  Mankind en mass has now exalted himself and his opinions above God’s revelation of truth, thus proclaiming that he (man) is God.  The apostasy, or rebellion, spoken of in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 literally means “a standing away from” or “divorcement.”  It speaks of divorcing oneself from the truth, which is what apostasy literally means.  The man of lawlessness in now revealed.  He is not just one man; he is every man that does not practice righteousness by confessing and repenting of his sins.  The man of lawlessness cannot confess because he cannot admit that God defines truth and he does not.

Thus, we now live in the time when the parousia of Christ may occur and the Sons of God may be glorified.

* Deliberate rebellious acts against the Truth remain unforgivable until a person repents.

We Would Have Healed Babylon

Elohim, Mystery Babylon

We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies. (Jeremiah 51:9 KJV)

If you take time to read Tiny Minds and then the comments for the video by Christianu2uber which is linked at the bottom, you will begin to understand God’s prophecy to Jeremiah.  The comments of those who disagree with this twelve-year old boy who posted that video are vile, astonishingly vile, rancidly vile.  The evil thoughts portrayed there far outweigh the few of love, hope, or peace written to encourage him.  Even many Christians wrote negative comments, thus taking sides with the defiled against this young boy who bravely expressed his views against gay marriage.

We clearly see here the strong delusion that God has now cast over the face of the earth.  I doubt that the pagans at the time of the first preachers of the gospel acted as corruptly as these arrogant toads that spew venom at their prey.  And we see this delusion affecting believers as well as non-believers.  How can this be?

Read the passage that deals specifically with this time in history, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12, and you will see that the defining characteristic of anyone unaffected by this delusion is that he loves the truth.  Those Christians who have sided with Satan in this homosexual debate believe they are open-minded and tolerant.  No, they are deceived and have betrayed their LORD.  They have denied him as Jude predicted.  Through their words they show that they do not love the truth.  God, therefore, gave them over to a spirit of delusion.

I do not see much Scriptural hope for a great end-time revival as some now predict.  There seems to be only the glimmer of light at the end of Malachi where he hopes that God will turn the hearts of the children to their fathers and the fathers to their children.  But, now both father and child act corruptly and if they do turn their hearts to one another, shall it not be only to do wickedness?

We being made into God’s image understand that mercy triumphs over judgment, yet judgment must still come if one refuses to repent.  We would have healed Babylon, but she would not be healed.  She is a cup in the LORD’s hand that has driven the world mad with her sexual sins.  Leave her in her sin.  She can’t hear you.   She can only mock your words of wisdom.  Cast not your pearls before swine.  Come out of her my people, lest you share in her sins and her plagues!  The Beast begins even now to turn upon her.

Tiny Minds

Mystery Babylon, Poems

Tiny minds
in puny brains
puking venom
to cause him pain

Can’t see beyond
their selfish heads
this little child
brings them dread

And so they shout
before they think;
forsaking love
they only stink.

(Note: this is a response to all the mean-spirited people who have left hateful and evil comments to ChristianU2uber at his video. The video has now been removed because of the vitriolic hate directed toward him.  This was the same kind of hate that Perez Hilton directed against Miss California during and after the Miss USA pageant.)

Gay Pride

All this Lambeth talk has me wanting to re-say a few things. So, here’s a repeat of an oldie — but still true:

Interfaith Pride Service, 6/14/03
Sermon
Interfaith Pride Service
Boston, MA
June 14, 2003
Katherine Ragsdale

First, I’d like to thank you for the invitation to speak to you today. It is good to be here. I’ve just returned from a week in Washington – a week spent addressing a variety of peace and justice issues. And I need to say a word about that, because, if I don’t make an effort to de-compartmentalize, to integrate, my life, I spin out into a fragmented mess – and it’s not pretty. But I promise, if you’ll bear with me, I’ll bring us back home quickly.

So, first, there was a 2-day roundtable of Muslim, Jewish, and Christian religious leaders—discussing the meaning of peace in today’s world and the conditions in the Middle East (and here at home) that might make peace possible. Only one person stormed out of the room, too angry, and, perhaps, too frightened to continue the conversation. That’s one too many, but, still, given the circumstances, not bad. For the most part, the group was able to embody the peace we yearn for.

Then there was a press conference by leaders of the women’s movement outlining some of the losses of freedom and dignity suffered lately and some of our plans to combat that. Let me tell you now – put April 25, 2004 on your calendars for a March on Washington for Women’s Rights – particularly reproductive rights.

Then we had a women’s leadership summit tracing the perils and oppression faced by women at home and across the globe and highlighting some of the ways governments, businesses, the entertainment industry, and activists are trying to respond to these challenges.

And finally, more informally, there was another of those exchanges where a gay man was arguing for our rights on the grounds that we can’t help being gay – the old take pity, have mercy, argument. You know, the one that concludes with a plaintive – who would choose this?

Let me answer that with three words:

Me! Me! Me!

In a New York minute! Me!

I can only hope that my straight sisters and brothers are as happy with their place in the sexual orientation continuum as I am with mine. But, alas, the conversation would not be de-railed; it continued with more insistences that we must be tolerated since we have no choice – the underlying assumption being that if we did have a choice we would, and should, choose to change.

So – war, poverty, religious disputes, politics, freedom, civil rights, gender, sexuality … it was a long week. And, frankly, I can’t quite decide whether to be energized and impassioned that there is so much good work for us to do and so many amazing people with whom to do it, or to be overwhelmed and depressed because there is so much important work to be done and, even with so many talented, passionate people working so hard, the end is nowhere in sight.

Energy, passion, depression, despair – and let’s not even get into frustration, righteous indignation, and outrage. I suspect that this cauldron of emotions is not some odd shortcoming peculiar to me. Perhaps you, too, know all these feelings. Perhaps they play tug of war with your psyche, heart, and spirit, as well. And perhaps, you, like me, find that, given the free reign of benign neglect, in this world of so many injustices and so much violence, the emotional balance seems, more often than not, to tip toward frustration and despair.

Actually, I think it speaks well of us that we look at the world and, even from the positions of privilege and comfort most of us inhabit, we notice the wrongs of this world and they matter to us. I pray that we may never become blind to the injustices that surround us – never cease to notice – never cease to care.

But — but…

Even as we commit ourselves to noticing and caring about those things that require and deserve our attention – things we have to, have to, fix – let us not make the mistake of noticing only those things. Let’s never allow ourselves to become so focused on the work yet to be done that we neglect to notice and celebrate our successes and our blessings.

This, too is human, I think – this tendency to hyper-focus on the work ahead and miss the bigger and more complex, nuanced, and deeply textured picture. But it’s a dangerous tendency – for all too often it leaves us discouraged. Dis –couraged. And to be dis-couraged makes me useless and it erodes my soul’s health. I suspect the same is true for you.

So, let’s try to resist that temptation to narrow in only on the job ahead am try to look at the whole picture for a moment.

It is true that there is plenty of important work ahead. The NGLTF reports that fully 1/3 of lgbt college students experience harassment. We know that there are far too many schools and families where it is not safe for teens to reveal or explore their sexual orientation. We know only too well the benefits that are denied to too many of us because we can’t get legally married. Personal and professional frustrations, roadblocks, and even dangers, persist for all too many of us or our sisters and brothers. There is work to be done.

But, sisters and brothers, just in case you haven’t noticed, let me make this very clear – the work that remains to be done? We do it as victors. We know the outcome of this struggle. We have already won.

Listen to this:

88% of Americans support equal opportunity in the workplace. (Only a generation ago I’m not sure 88% of Americans knew we existed and, of those who did, I’m not sure 88% would have supported our right to live – much less to be given equal opportunities)

Today, 75% of Democratic voters, 70% of Independents, and 56% of Republican voters supported sexual-orientation non-discrimination laws.

Only 40% of the public supports our freedom to marry (still – 40%!) but 73% believe we should have inheritance rights and 68% think we should get Social Security survivors’ benefits.

96% think HIV and STDs should be covered in sex-ed in the schools.

Today, any day of the week, a child anywhere in this country can turn on the television and find images of happy, healthy gay people. Doctors, lawyers, sports and entertainment figures, parents, grandparents, members of Congress or the clergy … on television, in the movies, in the newspapers, in our communities, any child in America can find evidence – reason to hope – that they, too, can grow up to lead a happy, fulfilled life, no matter what their sexual orientation.

This was certainly not true 30 years ago when I was a teen who didn’t even have the vocabulary to conceptualize why I didn’t fit in. This is huge. Every gay child has access to signs of hope. And every straight child has exposure to the idea that other sexual orientations are simply other ways of being – or, as my then 10 year old nephew explained to his 6 year old brother, “of course women can marry women and men can marry men. It’s really no big deal.”

We have changed the world and there is no going back. As you have Acted Up in the streets and cared for one another in your homes through those early, devastating years of the AIDS crisis, our community set a new standard for compassion and commitment; as we came out of our closets and faced down the bashers and oppressors, we added a new category to the list of the courageous; as we raised our children, adopted others, claimed our alliances, named our loves, we have changed the meaning of the word family. And every family in America (even the 17% of them that follow the old Ozzie and Harriet model) every family in America has been enriched by this broader definition.

The world has been changed in profound – awesome – ways. And we have played a part – a large part – in making that happen. Gay pride? You better believe it!

Yes, we still have work to do. There are laws yet to be passed, kids yet to be saved, opportunities yet to be opened up and explored. And, as long as we’re broadening our vision, let’s remember what God told the children of Abraham:

You must never take advantage of a stranger, for you know what it is to be a stranger. You, whom God has set free from bondage and need, must never ignore the bondage or need of another. You who have been so richly blessed must share your blessings with those in want.

Sisters and brothers, the conflict in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Middle East; the rise of poverty and the loss of hope here at home; the loss of civil liberties, freedom, choice, and opportunity – we are not free to ignore these either. We who know what it is to be marginalized, denied opportunity and hope, denied basic human rights, denied safety; we who know these things and yet have been so richly blessed, are not free to ignore the plight of others.

We have work to do – but we have powerful tools with which to do it. We have the communities and alliances we have built over the years, we have our passion and our vision, we have the things we’ve learned.

Let me just highlight a couple of those things –

1) We have learned not to give in to the temptation to be dis-couraged. We have learned not to be afraid.
Fear undoes us –
It renders us useless
It erodes our souls
And it is a faithless an ungrateful response from those who believe that we are never abandoned to the fray, never left alone, unaided or uncomforted – from those who have been carried so very far already.

2) We have learned that you cannot sustain a movement, or a spirit, on opposition – to anything, no matter how worthy of opposition it may be. Movements and spirits are sustained by vision – by what we are for not what we are against. As we march, today and every day, we march not primarily away from all that is wrong but toward all that is good and true and honorable and just. Yes, there may be, will be, skirmishes along the way, but they are incidental. They are not the point.

The vision is the point. We march and we fight and we persevere because we yearn for a world where every human being grows up safe and loved, where her dignity is respected and his particularity is celebrated. We dream of a world where everyone understands that the God who created us loves us — and where true love is, God’s own self is there.

3) We have learned that Gandhi was right – you must become the change you wish to see. We will achieve our vision not by hiding and hating but by loving and celebrating. The world we dream of – a world free from fear – can be ushered in only by our own fearlessness. A world of rich diversity, beauty, love can only be achieved by our own refusal to be seduced by despair, our own refusal to live small, to be less than we were created to be. We win the ability to love only by loving – with powerful, extravagant abandon.

4) We have learned that we can afford to live like that. For the victory is already ours. And our adversaries would do well to remember the words of Gamaliel, a Pharisee and elder of the land who warned those who wanted to eliminate the followers of Jesus. Be careful, Gamaliel said. If this is of man alone it will surely fade of its own accord. But if it is of God nothing you can do will stop it – and you might even find yourself to be working against God’s own self.

We know where God is in this. We know it deep in our hearts – in our very marrow. And we see the evidence. The world has already changed – more profoundly than we could reasonably have hoped. Surely it is God who saves us – we shall not be afraid.

Yes, there is work to be done and, as people who have been so richly blessed, we are not free to shirk or disengage. We must press on – but we do so secure in the knowledge that the victory is ours; the prize has been won and claimed for us already. We do so grateful and proud to be allowed to play some part in seeing God’s love for the world brought to light and fruition.

Sisters and brothers – we are blessed to be able to be a part of this. Blessed to have each other. Let us press onward, march forward, this and every day, fearlessly, with confidence and joy, with grateful hearts, and yes, with Pride.

And may God continue to bless us and those we love this and every day.

Amen

Beast

Mystery Babylon, Poems

How can your horror be described?
the starving babies
with bloated bellies
milk tainted by man’s greed

How can your horror be described?
the needles and thorns
the little horn
the genetically modified seed

How can your horror be described?
the man-made storms
the constant wars
your promulgating sin

How can your horror be described?
the punctured face
the lack of grace
the emptiness within…

The Beast

Mystery Babylon

“I was so foolish and ignorant; I was a beast before you.” (Psalm 73:22)

If we do not keep ourselves from idols and begin to repent of the idols we have partaken of, we will partake of the beast instead.  In fact, we become the beast.

“As a dream when one awakes, so, LORD, when you awake, you shall despise their image.” (Psalm 73:20)

Why will God “despise their image?”  Because they submitted not to be made into His image.  The posts and writings on this website mainly relate to God’s creation plan of making man into His image.   Read Image of God.

Instead of seeking to know more about his maker, man runs from him and becomes more like the beast of the field than the elohim God intends.   Thus man becomes a being living only by instinct and carnal feeling, just as described in Revelation 12-13 and 17-18.

The beasts in the Book of Revelation picture the governments of man which rule the world under the authority of Satan without recourse to God or his Law.  The harlot Jezebel rides the beast masquerading as true religion, but she is a hypocrite.  She rides the governmental beast in all nations pretending to adhere to the dictates of the state religion or religions.  False religion rides the beast because she depends upon the state’s (beast’s) sustenance rather than God’s provision.  But the Beast is now beginning to turn on her, just as prophesied…

Food Fascism

Mystery Babylon

The control of all the world’s food supply is a huge goal of the rulers of Mystery Babylon.  Control the food and water and you control the people and end up with ALL their property.  Monsanto company plays a huge part in the push for total control.  Just consider Joseph in Egypt.  What will happen when such control rests in the hands of evil men, men who change God’s creation by genetically modifying it so that it no longer reproduces after its own kind?

The Curse of God and the Appearance of Antichrist

Elohim, Gospel, Mystery Babylon, Prophecy

Have you ever noticed that God sometimes curses his own people?  Consider his words to Isaiah, “Go, and tell this people, Hear you indeed, but understand not; and see you indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people dull, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and return, and be healed. Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities are wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land is utterly desolate, And the LORD has removed men far away, and there are many forsaken places in the midst of the land. But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be laid waste: as a terebinth tree, and as an oak, whose stump remains, when they are cut down: so the holy seed shall be its stump.” (Isaiah 6:9-13 KJ2000)

God sent Isaiah as a prophet of doom to the rebellious houses of Israel and Judah because those two nations had rejected God as their sovereign King and Lawgiver.  Yes, they were God’s people, but have you ever noticed how few of “God’s” people really respond to his word of truth?  Millions claim Jesus as their “savior.”  Millions say they obey him.  Few really do.  A strange thing exists in that most of us cannot even discern whether we obey God well or not.  Paul said, “I do not even judge myself.”  Why not?  He could not accurately judge himself.

God told Isaiah to proclaim a curse over his rebellious people, saying, “Go, and tell this people, Hear you indeed, but understand not; and see you indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people dull, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes…”  But why this curse? ”Lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and return, and be healed.”  (Isaiah 6:9-10 KJ2000)

In other word, God brings this curse to keep them from repenting!  And, since they won’t (can’t) repent, God brings judgment upon them again and again until all that is left is a stump, the holy seed.  God uses continual judgments to refine his firstfruits sons.  But, what of the rest?

Consider why the curse came in the first place.  God’s people, types of the church today, rebelled against God’s truth and walked in disobedience.  It was their continued disobedience and failure to repent that brought the initial curse.  The curse, then, was God’s judgment for their sin.  But why?

God cannot entrust spiritual truth to disobedient men.  Truth marks the obedient sons of God.  Thus God conceals his word to all the rest.  Knowing this helps us understand a key verse concerning these times.  “And then shall that Wicked One be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deception of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them a strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be condemned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:8-12 KJ2000)  Here we see that God literally sends his people a spirit of delusion so that they will believe the lie.

When we see this then we can understand why many Christians voted for Barack Obama, a man who believes that patently evil things, like abortion and homosexual marriage, are good.   They were deluded into believing a lie, and so, they voted for a liar.  Isn’t it remarkable that Christians voted for their own antichrist, one who, even if not the antichrist, clearly walks in and governs by an antichrist spirit?
