THANKFUL

          THANKFUL

I’m thankful for the lovely day,
for the fish and birds, the bubbling spray
that jumps from waters as they play
escaping from Blue Spring

I’m thankful for a rare clear sky,
the blueness of heaven, the hunting hawk’s cry
that pierces the heavens as it dives
above the deep Blue Spring

I’m thankful for the cool fall air
that rustles the leaves and blows through my hair
as it hastens to its hidden lair
beyond the clear Blue Spring

I’m thankful for the bubbling brook
that runs beyond my farthest look
laughing in the life it took
from its Mother, dear Blue Spring
