The Anti-Christ Has Been Revealed

One of the titles given to “the antichrist” in Scripture is “the man of sin” or “man of lawlessness.” Paul speaks of the lawless one and the return of Jesus Christ in the following passage:

Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers,[a] not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness[b] is revealed, the son of destruction,[c] who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. Forthe mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, 10 and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, 12 in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 ESV)

Many say that the Lord Jesus Christ cannot return yet because the lawless one, or antichrist, has not yet been revealed on the world stage. I say to you that he has been revealed and he is every man who refuses to repent of his sins. The recent Supreme Court decision making what God says is an abomination the law of the land serves as the latest example of man’s lawlessness. Therefore take heed of another of Paul’s prophecies concerning the coming of our Lord.

Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers,[a] you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children[b] of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. (1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 ESV)

If you have not repented of your sins, for example, if you do not see the Supreme Court decision approving gay marriage as a bad thing, then you are not a child of the light and you do not see the Lord’s coming. You will no doubt be one of these prophesied people saying, “Nothing is going to happen; there is peace and security.” I tell you that there is no peace and security in this day. The Lord is coming as a thief, unexpectedly. Only those who walk consistently in the light can see him coming. I see him coming. Do you?

Repent of your sins, stop sinning, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and he will forgive you and give you the gift of the Holy Spirit. Little time remains to make this decision in this life.
