Yesterday I confronted a very popular web site owner and web talk show guest about an article he had linked on his site. The article began like this,
“Dear Friend:
“I love my friends, but I will shoot you if I have to. I’m serious. Here’s why.
“I tried to persuade you to prepare for what’s coming and, in the process, revealed that to you that I’m preparing. You realized that I have food, guns, etc., and ended up saying, half kidding but half serious, “I’ll come to your place when SHTF.”
“No you won’t. I will shoot you. If you threaten me and my family, I will use force to defend against any threat. And showing up at my place hungry and unprepared is a threat to me. You will eat my food and use up my medical supplies, generator, firewood, etc. That’s less of these life-saving things for me and my family. That’s a threat.”

I said to the popular man who posted this link, “This is man’s wisdom and is not of faith.” He responded by saying, “NOT TRUE AS THE PARABLE OF THE TEN VIRGINS BACKS HIM UP!” Then I replied, “Storing guns, ammo, and food has nothing to do with being filled with the Holy Spirit.” That’s when the popular preacher of “hidden” truths became irate and abusive, saying, “NEVER SAID IT DID -NOT PROVIDING FOR YOUR FAMILY MAKES YOU AN INFIDEL ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURE-SO TELL ME HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE YOU WON TO THE LORD OR FED OUT OF YOUR POCKET-WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO SHOW YOU HAVE THE FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN YOUR LIFE? ARE YOU CRYING OUT AGAINST YOUR BRETHREN BEING BUTCHERED ,BEHEADED CRUCIFIED AND CANNIBALIZED? SHOW ME YOUR WORKS AND THEN I’LL BELIEVE YOU HAVE THE HOLY GHOST-BY THE WAY DONT RESPOND -I DEAL WITH TO MANY PHARISEES DAILY TO ENGAGE ANOTHER ONE.”
Unfortunately the views expressed by this man have become extremely common in many Christian circles. They clearly depend more upon their preparations of food and guns than they do upon the LORD’s personal presence and provision to be with them in the coming dark days. I have discussed these issues often with my wife. If people come to our home for food and water when Babylon falls, then we will provide it to them. If they walk with the LORD, then they can stay with us. If they walk with Satan, then they have to leave. We will depend upon God for our protection and sustenance, not in the arm of our carnal flesh.
Today’s false prophets, however, argue just the opposite. They say that if you are not willing to kill someone in order to protect your carnal flesh, then you are not providing for your family. Do you think Jesus would have killed anyone who wanted to share his food or water? Today a myriad of false prophets foul the purity of God’s Word. Some accept any and every sin into their church and declare God sanctions it. Others deny the world is moving quickly toward the end-of-the-age conflict between God and Satan. Still others preach that we must prepare for that end-time battle with the arm of our flesh. All are false prophets. The battle is the LORD’s and I choose to stand with him and abide in his provision.
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, 6 being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete. (2 Corinthians 10:3-6 ESV)
