A Song of (A)Ascents.
126 When the Lord (B)restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who (C)dream.
2 Then our (D)mouth was filled with laughter,
and our tongue with shouts of joy;
then they said among the nations,
(E)“The Lord has done great things for them.”
3 The Lord has done great things for us;
we are glad.
4 Restore our fortunes, O Lord,
like streams in the Negeb!
5 (F)Those who sow in tears
shall reap with shouts of joy!
6 He who goes out weeping,
bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
bringing his sheaves with him. (Psalm 126, ESV)
“Where is this coming that the LORD has promised? Everything goes on as it has from the beginning.” Such we are tempted to always think and thus throw off the coming of the LORD to never never land. I fear that the vast majority of humanity and even Christendom lives day to day with this thought controlling their every action even though they do not actually say the word to themselves. For this reason they do not see the signs all around them which declare that we live on the precipice of eternity.
And when that change of time occurs surely we will be like those in a dream. We who have longed for the restoration of God’s Kingdom and God’s rule over man will suddenly skip like calves in the field and laugh with hearts unbound and set free from the tyrannical rule of man. That day, the seventh millennial day since Adam, will be the overcomers’ sabbath, their day of profound and well-earned rest. No longer must they battle their flesh with its carnal desires. God will have given them a new heaven and new earth wherein righteousness dwells, direct access to the Almighty in heaven and a new, spiritual body that does not sin.
This profound change, more profound than we can even imagine and thus seemingly a “dream,” will fill us with laughter and joy. Even the nations, those who were not changed at this time, will see that something has happened and proclaim that God has done a great thing in us. The offscouring of the earth who sowed the truth in tears because no one would hear and obey the true Gospel of Jesus Christ will now reap with shouts of joy. They carried the seed of new life with them, but that seed was always eaten by demons or choked by the cares of this world. Now, however, their seed will grow as people truly respond to the Word of God and actually apply it to their lives.
Yes, it will be as a dream… and the dream is about to begin!
