This series really began with my post on February 21, 2015 called Flee Like a Bird to Your Mountain. There I recounted how the Lord had recently made it clear to me that the people of God should not prepare for the coming onslaught of evil-doers as the world does. Carnal preparation for the chaos to come by hoarding guns, ammo, food, gold, and energy really amounts to nothing more than fleeing to Satan’s mountain, Satan’s governmental system. When I specifically prayed this past February about the “Christian prepper” teachings of certain Christian leaders like Steve Quayle, Chuck Baldwin, Paul McQuire, Hagmann and Hagmann, and others, the Lord directly (and, I believe supernaturally) took me to the following Scripture:
In the Lord I take refuge;
how can you say to my soul,
“Flee like a bird to your mountain.” (Psalm 11:1)
Immediately when I saw this verse I knew I had my answer. All of these Christian “prophets” were telling me that I needed to prepare in the flesh and be ready to flee to their type of mountain of defense. David himself had faced this dilemma when wicked men sought his life, his soul. But David found his refuge in the Lord. So should we. Our help does not lie in the grandeur of our preparations or the greatness of our weapons of war. Who are you prophets to say to God’s people that we must be ready to flee to a carnal mountain of safety, to “your mountain.” No, I will take refuge in the Lord upon his mountain.
After revealing this to me, during the next month the Lord showed me that his mountain actually consists of the Mountains of Israel and that those mountains are really his glorified saints, the overcomers. We will see this even more clearly in the next prophetic passage of Scripture.
“And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord.2 Thus says the Lord God: Because the enemy said of you, ‘Aha!’ and, ‘The ancient heights have become our possession,’3 therefore prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord God: Precisely because they made you desolate and crushed you from all sides, so that you became the possession of the rest of the nations, and you became the talk and evil gossip of the people, 4 therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God: Thus says the Lord God to the mountains and the hills, the ravines and the valleys, the desolate wastes and the deserted cities, which have become a prey and derision to the rest of the nations all around, 5 therefore thus says the Lord God: Surely I have spoken in my hot jealousy against the rest of the nations and against all Edom, who gave my land to themselves as a possession with wholehearted joy and utter contempt, that they might make its pasturelands a prey. 6 Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I have spoken in my jealous wrath, because you have suffered the reproach of the nations. 7 Therefore thus says the Lord God: I swear that the nations that are all around you shall themselves suffer reproach. (Ezekiel 36:1-7 ESV)
First notice that Ezekiel prophesies to “the mountains of Israel.” Then notice how he personifies those mountains and describes how Edom, Satan-inspired mankind, has crushed and made desolate the mountains of Israel, God’s people. This passage accurately and precisely describes the current predicament of Christians and Jews around the world. We “have become a prey and derision to the rest of the nations all around.” Mountains of rock and stone do not become prey or derisions to mankind; people do. Today God’s people cannot even preach or do the righteous acts commanded by God without being condemned, fined, bankrupted, or jailed. Simply consider the awful situation of the cake baker in Oregon who stands to lose all she owns because she refused to bake a cake for a “gay wedding.” America’s laws were once founded upon Biblical law, the ancient laws of Israel. Today we kill babies up until the minute before they are born and say their mothers have a legal right to do this. Today we let homosexuals “marry” and adopt children. Today we pay taxes to pay for sex-change operations of schizophrenics. Our laws now stand 0pposite and contrary to God’s Law. Legislators can no longer pass a moral law because some court will then declare it unconstitutional and forbid its implementation. We now live in a world gone totally insane because it replaced the worldview of a loving Creator with the worldview of Satan, the one who rebelled against God in order make himself a god. This satanic worldview is Satan’s mountain. Should we flee like a bird to his mountain in our mad preparations to remain safe in the flesh?
Of course not. But, didn’t Jesus tell us to “flee to the mountains” when we saw “the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place?” (Matthew 24:15-16) I believe he was speaking of the mountains of Israel, the overcomers that God will glorify when it becomes abundantly clear that the “abomination of desolation” now stands in God’s holy place. In that day Israel (true believers in the one true God and his Christ) will recognize the mountains of God. They will not go back to their own houses to gather their carnal preparations for war. They will not turn back to take their cloak, their old identity in this world. No, they will flee to God’s mountains for “then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.22 And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.” (Matthew 24:17-22)
At that time,
if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand.26 So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather. (Matthew 24:23-28)
God will make the mountains of Israel apparent to his “elect,” to all of Israel. Do not be deceived by false christs and false prophets. The mountains will be as visible “as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west.” Be not like the prophet of God who heard the word of the Lord for Northern Israel, preached it, and then harkened to the voice of a false prophet, turned aside to eat and drink with that prophet, and was killed by lion (Satan goes about as a roaring lion). Read all of chapter 13 of 1 Kings for this account. No,“when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16 then let those who are in Judea [true Jews, believers in Christ, God’s people] flee to the mountains.” (Matthew 24:15-16)
