Recently my wife and I discussed a peculiar aspect of Hezekiah’s celebration of Second Passover. Please review previous posts on this topic if you are not aware of this particular holy day celebration. The verse we discussed is this: “But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.” (2 Chronicles 29:34 KJV)
Second Passover remains a prophetic feast yet to be fulfilled. It portends, I believe, the time of great awakening of God’s people in the Day of the LORD. As we see in the cataclysmic man-made island burning and falling into the sea, that Day is now upon us. Second Passover remains for God’s people to expel the leaven (the sin and hypocrisy) from their lives. My wife and I recently paid special attention to the verse above. The priests, that is, those believers specially called, chosen, and prepared for ministering for the LORD, especially at this particular time, had not fully sanctified themselves. They had not separated themselves from the world and unto the work of the LORD. We had to ask ourselves, and still do, have we done so?
We both have seen and believed for over twelve years now that the LORD’s return is imminent. We have taught it and lived expectantly for it. But the question remains, have we sanctified ourselves to be ready for our part in it? Have you? Those fully sanctified become priests after the Order of Melchizedek.
It is also these fully prepared and sanctified ones who, I believe, become the man-child company. They become the first-born of God who rule with him on the throne of David. These shall shepherd God’s people, shall shepherd all the people of the earth. Their rod is a shepherd’s rod (staff). Their almond staff (natural life) has budded into eternal life. They will rule with the mercy of the kind and gentle shepherd and with the judgment of the rod of iron, God’s Law.
