Behold, the days come, says the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: (Amos 8:11 KJ2000)
We have lived now a very long time without the word of the prophet in the land. We hear utterances often from those who believe they bear the word of the LORD, but their words fall to the ground and never come to pass, words like Obama is the antichrist, President Bush will be assassinated, or president Obama will be assassinated. Also, after Biblical holidays, like Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles, became the rage about 12 years ago we heard hundreds and thousands of predictions that “the rapture,” or the “manifestation of the sons of God,” or “the tribulation” would begin on a specific date that, of course, fell on one of these many holidays. All, without fail, have been wrong and yet, many of those who made these predictions keep right on making new guesses as if they had the word of the LORD! This is folly and it has brought disrepute to the Name of Christ just as surely as have the carnal sins that many Christians blatantly commit!
Surely God has deliberately withheld his word. For many years now we have endured a famine of the truly prophetic. As I racked my brain today I could remember only one of long past that I considered to have spoken a true word. I recalled his vision The Killing of the Bull and how we have literally seen that incredible vision fulfilled over the past twelve years after he uttered it. And the search for that prophecy led me to some newer ones by “old dog” prophet named Bob Neumann. These new words concern the serpent’s seed and God’s dealing with his own people who have believed and lived that seed’s lies. If you choose to read these prophecies, just remember, a prophet speaks not to please man, but the God whom he serves.
But, I cannot vouch for Bob’s credibility today or tomorrow any better than I can vouch for yours or mine tomorrow. I know that I want to serve and obey God today and that is the best I can do. Each of us must learn to hear the Holy Spirit and to discern when a “prophetic word” is or is not of the LORD. One thing I do know is that God does not reveal timing to his prophets. It seems that every one of them, even the true ones, miss it when they try to predict an event. And another thing I know…the word of the LORD is extremely rare these days. Rarely you will even find two prophets who agree with one another over their prophetic words. Again, learn to discern the true from the false. I can point you in only one direction for that. Read and study God’s Word, the Bible, and do what it says.
So, do I believe that Bob Neumann is a true prophet of the LORD? I have read several of his words and they seem right to me. On the other hand, he has doubtless prophesied from the idols of his own heart (interpreted his vision), as have the rest of us. Certainly he has been misled by others that he ministered with as he admits in the last group of his posts linked above. I do not take his words as inerrant, as I do the Scriptures. I know no living man who walks in the anointing of the prophets of Scripture. So let us discern as we go on with life and let us not add to or take away from God’s own word presumptuously.
